The Essay Flowchart is the story of how a small act of kindness, compassion and gratitude can create a tipping point that change the world.
The project responded to the struggles of poor rice farmers’ children to see the value of education at a rural community college.
The college did not have many resources and the students did not have much hope for the future.
It was no surprise that a significant number of students would be absent on a given day because they were out on the farms and helping their parents.
This self-sustaining and destructive loop robbed these otherwise inquisitive, hardworking and amazing children of any dream of a better life.
Given that essay writing is a central measure of learning because it requires mastery of a range of academic skills, The Essay Flowchart had a transformative effect on the students.
Gone were pages and pages of text, which The Essay Flowchart replaced with bite-size explanation one step at a time, making learning inherently meaningful and manageable.
And just like farming, the students followed their instincts through The Essay Flowchart to build their core thinking, planning and composing skills.
These skills transcended beyond their writing to all areas of their educational endeavors, giving them critical success. It can do the same for you too.
The Essay Flowchart continues the same “hope in action” today and builds the self-confidence of learners, as well as generates revenue to meet basic educational expenses of deserving students.
It embodies the spirit of what one can achieve if only one takes a chance… for oneself and others!
When you take a chance, you forge an opportunity to do something different. You make a conscious choice not to stay where you are. Too often we underestimate the power of what we can do single handedly, until we take that chance!
